After panels, the inverter is the biggest line item, and price varies meaningfully between Growatt, Inverex, Solis and GoodWe. On-grid units cost less than hybrid.
A 6KW solar system with battery makes sense if your area sees scheduled load shedding or unreliable evening supply. Size the battery to your essential load fans, lights, fridge, Wi-Fi and one inverter AC rather than the whole house, because lithium capacity is the costliest part of a hybrid build.
Under the 2026 net-billing rules there’s a second reason: exported units are credited at NEPRA’s notified rate, lower than what you pay to import so storing afternoon surplus and using it in the evening peak is worth more than exporting it.
