An elevated or cantilever structure raises panels 6-10 feet on columns, so the roof beneath stays usable washing lines, water tanks, a seating area while the airflow underneath cools the panels and lifts summer output. It costs more per kW than standard rails because it’s fabrication-heavy: column footing depth, beam spans and bracing determine whether it shrugs off a storm or becomes the neighbourhood’s cautionary tale. The elevated deck also opens the option of bifacial panels overhead.

Genuine DC solar cable is double-insulated, UV-stabilised and rated for 25 years on a roof that hits 70°C. Undersized or PVC household wire a common low-quote substitution loses output as heat and becomes brittle within a couple of summers.
